Thomas and Coastal Georgia Split in Softball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Thomas Softball (14-15) split a non-conference double header with the College of Coastal Georgia (8-11) on Sunday afternoon in Brunswick, Ga.

Coastal topped TU 5-4 in the early game, breaking a 4-4 tie with a run in the bottom of the fifth that would prove to be the difference. Two Thomas errors, leading to two unearned runs, proved to be costly. Freshman starting pitcher Ashley Sikes (3-2) took the loss, limiting CCG to only seven hits but allowing five runs (three earned runs). Junior left fielder Chandler Seay (2-3, 3 RBI, 2B) drove in three runs for TU.

In game two, Thomas was limited to only seven hits but made the most of them in a 7-2 win to salvage the split. TU posted single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth before blowing the game wide open with three runs in the sixth. Senior second baseman Brittney Mayhill (2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2B, 2 SB) drove in two runs. On the mound, senior starting pitcher Jessica Johnson (2-0) collected her second straight win with two four inning so of work, allowing two earned runs on seven hits.

TU will return to Armory Field on Friday March 21st for a double header against Concordia University beginning at 1 p.m.
