Softball (12-13) swept Brewton Parker College (14-8), 6-3 & 5-1, in a non-conference double header this afternoon in Mt. Vernon, Ga.
TU used solo shots by junior center fielder
Aileen Fiallo (2-3, R, 2 RBI, HR) and junior first baseman
Carmen Nadal (2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 HR) to take a 2-0 lead in the second inning of game one, BPC scored single runs in the second and third to knot the game at two. Thomas retook the lead in the top of the fourth with another two home run inning. Nadal connected on a one out two run shot, her second of the day, to deep center and a solo shot by junior shortstop
Lindsey Young (1-3, R, RBI, HR) would put the Lady Night Hawks up 5-2. After BPC made it a two run game with a single run in the bottom half of the inning but TU once again made it a three run game with an insurance run in top of the fifth. Freshman starting pitcher
Ashley Sikes (3-1) went all the way for the win.
Senior starting pitcher
Jessica Johnson (1-0) limited Brewton to only four hits in the game two win. Senior third baseman
Aimee Johnson (1-3, R, RBI, HR) and sophomore second baseman
Chelsea Carter (1-3, R, RBI, HR) each hit solo home runs for TU.
Thomas will continue with non-conference action tomorrow afternoon when they face College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Ga. Game one of the double dip is set to begin at 1 p.m.
