Ave Maria Drops TU Women’s Basketball

Box Score Ave Maria University (17-9, 9-4) dropped TU Women's Basketball (7-16, 3-9), 100-76, on Saturday evening in Ave Maria, Fla.

TU and AMU went back and forth for the first 5 minutes of the game. AMU started to pull away with 12 minutes in the first half building up a 15 point lead, their largest off the half. Ave would head into the locker room with a 14 point lead at 45-31.

Thomas would never bring the game within single digits in the second half. TU was able to make it a ten point game early in the half but were unable to make the necessary defensive stop and conversion on the offensive side to make it a single digit game. Ave opened their largest lead of the half, at thirty one, with 6:59 to play. With the loss, TU extends their losing streak to five. It is their second five game skid of the year.

The Lady Night Hawks were led by junior forward Taylor Britt who scored a game high 24 points to go along with 9 rebounds while leading the team in steals with 4. Two other Lady Night Hawks, freshman guard Joi Wright (14 points) and junior guard Jessica Anderson (11 points), finished the game with double digit scoring.

Women's Basketball will be back at the TU Gymnasium Wednesday February 12 against Johnson & Wales University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
