TU Softball (5-8) ended their weekend with a split to complete a 7 game run at the Southern Challenger in Clermont, Fla.

In game one against College of Coastal Georgia (0-2) the Lady Night Hawks jumped to a quick lead scoring seven runs in the first with some help from the Coastal Georgia defense. Up 8-2 in the top of the 4th, TU fell apart allowing four runs to make it a two run game. CCG would tack on a run apiece in the 5th, 6th and 7th to take a 9-8 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, freshman right fielder Brittany Daniels (0-2, R, BB) came around to score on a base hit to right center by junior first baseman Carmen Nadal (1-4, RBI) to tie the game at eight. Freshman pitcher Ashley Sikes (1-0) took the game on her shoulders in the eighth, throwing out the hitter at first after a bunt and than snagging a line drive back to her and doubling off the runner at third to end the inning. Junior shortstop Lindsey Young (3-4, 2 RBI, R) drove in the game winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth.

In game two, a fellow Sun Conference opponent, St. Thomas University (2-0) held the Lady Night Hawks to only 2 hits in a 1-0 victory over TU. It was the first time this season that TU softball was blanked. Senior starting pitcher Summer Rose (4-4) tossed a complete game in the unlucky defeat, scattering 6 hits and allowing one run.

The Lady Night Hawks have a 12 day break before traveling to Montgomery, Ala. on February 28th to face Auburn University at Montgomery.
