TU Softball goes 2-1 on Day 2 of the Southern Challenger

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 TU softball (4-7) goes 2-1 on day 2 of the Southern Challenge in Clermont, Fla.

Thomas started the day playing The Sun Conference foe, USCB (8-2), in a non-conference game winning 9-6. In a hitting fest with the wind blowing out, TU scored in innings 1 through 5 while holding USCB to 4 scoreless innings. Summer Rose (1-4, 2 RBI, 1 Run) hits a two run blast in the top of the 4th to put TU up 8-5. USCB answered back with a RBI single up the middle. In the top of the 5th Julia Cullinan (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R) hits a solo homerun to secure the 9-6 victory. Summer Rose picks up the win tossing a complete game allowing 6 runs.

In game 2 of the day The Lady Night Hawks came up short with a one run lose to Mobile University (3-2). The Rams held TU to 2 runs on 8 hits. Thomas University was not able to put the 8 hits together as they fell shy with a 3-2 lose.

To close the day out TU finished with a victory beating Truett-McConnell 14-9. TU went up 6-0 in the first 3 innings. Truett then answered back in the bottom of the third with 4 runs. Thomas gained another run in the top of the 4th; however, Truett answered with 5 runs taking their first lead of the game. The Lady Night Hawks stepped to the challenge as they scored seven more runs late in the game. Lindsey Young (2-3, 4 RBI, 2 R) was responsible for 4 of those runs with a grand slam blast over the center field wall in the top of the 6th. Summer Rose picks up her 4th victory of the year while blanking Truett in the final innings of the game.

The Lady Night Hawks will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM to close out the weekend at the Southern Challenger.
