Thomas University Softball (2-6) split a double dip this afternoon at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.

Reinhardt University (2-1) used eleven hits to top TU 8-3 in the early game. Four errors by the Lady Night Hawks led to three unearned runs for Reinhardt. RU opened a 6-0 advantage before Thomas plated two runs to make it a four run game. Reinhardt tacked on two more runs and TU scored a late run. Senior starting pitcher Aimee Johnson (0-3) tossed four plus innings in the losing effort.

The Lady Night Hawks (1-1) picked up their second win of the year in game two of the day, topping Point University (1-1) 4-0. Senior starting pitcher Summer Rose (2-3) fired her first shutout of the year, going all the way while limiting Point to only three hits. Junior first baseman Carmen Nadal (2-3, RBI) had two hits and drove in a run.

Tomorrow, in day two at the National Training Center, Thomas will face the University of South Carolina – Beaufort (1:15 p.m.), the University of Mobile (3:30 p.m.) and Truett-McConnell College (5:45 p.m.).
