Box Score Women's Basketball (7-16, 3-9) halted a five game losing streak by defeating Johnson and Wales University (7-12, 4-8), 80-67, on Wednesday night at the TU Gymnasium.
Johnson and Wales got the tip and scored the first points of the game. JWU held the lead for 5 minutes, TU turned up the pressure on defense with freshman guard
Joi Wright snagging 4 steals over the next 5 minutes, helping TU to take the lead 14-8. The Lady Night Hawks never turned back in the half, taking a 38-25 advantage into the half. Junior forward
Taylor Britt ended the half with 12 points while junior guard
Jessica Anderson added 7 points.
TU scored a quick 7 points coming out of the locker room. A 4 minute dry spell for the Lady Night Hawks helped get JWU back into the game, making it a three point game. Junior
Angel Roberts broke the seal with a three pointer at 12:10 to make the score 48-42. That was the closest that JWU would get as Thomas pulled away to keep the game a 10 point game for the rest of the game.
The Lady Night Hawks had 5 players in double figures starting with Britt who finished the game with 22 points, Anderson finished with 14 points, freshman guard
Shaunice Bennett finished knocked down 12 while junior forward
Ivory Smith and Wright both ended with 10 apiece. Junior
Angel Roberts added 8 rebounds, 8 assist and 8 points. She led the team in rebounds and assist.
The Lady Night Hawks will be back in action Saturday February 15 traveling to Lakeland, Fla. to face Southeastern University
