Box Score Thomas University's Women's Basketball (3-0) (0-0 TSC) blew out Bob Jones University (0-4) 82-32 in their first game of the Trinity Baptist Tournament.
The Lady Night Hawks soared over the Bruins on both sides of the ball, only allowing the Bruins to shoot 13.3% of their 45 attempts from the field. TU shot a remarkable 50.8% of their 59 attempts in the paint and recorded 44.4% behind the arc.
The Bruins got 25 opportunities at the free throw line, getting 10 buckets from free throws. TU also capitalized on free throw opportunities, draining 10 of their 22 free throws (45.5%). Senior Guard
Courtney Saunds hooped for 16 total points, 1 assist, and 3 steals. Freshman Point Guard
Tess Wright balled out 14 total points from the bench, 3 assists and two steals. In her debut Lady Night Hawk Basketball game, Freshman Center
Ashley Webster recorded 12 points from the bench with 2 assists and one steal.
"Tournaments are always great to test your athletes; push their limits, exhibit their strengths, and uncover their weaknesses," said TU Head Women's Basketball Coach,
Coretta Brown. "We uncovered some individual strengths and weakness and some team strengths and weaknesses as well. It's exciting being early in the season with a team who has exceptional potential and if we learn how to fully tap into our potential, we will be a threat in our conference competitions."
The Lady Night Hawks will continue in the Trinity Baptist Tournament in Jacksonville, FL for their second game Saturday, November 8
th at 2:00 P.M. against Edward Waters.
