Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. – While the Thomas University Lady Night Hawks battled with a valiant effort this evening, the squad fell short losing to NCAA Division I foe Georgia State University 101-55 in a midseason exhibition.

From the tip, the Hunter Green and White went toe-to-toe with the Panthers matching basket-for-basket. The Lady Night Hawks took their first and only lead of the game at 9-8 with 16:29 remaining in the contest.

The Panthers went on a 9-0 and 14-0 run, temporarily broken up by a field goal by
Kerregan Poe-Cochran, to extend its lead to 33-16 with just under 13 minutes remaining in the half. While the Lady Night Hawks tried multiple attempts on end of the offensive floor, the full-court Panther defense forced several turnovers (27) by the Lady Night Hawks. The Panthers' lead continued to grow reaching a height of 26 points with just over a minute remaining in the half. At the buzzer, the Lady Night Hawks entered the locker room down 52-27.

The Lady Night Hawks regrouped during halftime and looked to battle back in the second half. While the Lady Night Hawks garnered an opening run to cut the lead to 21, the Panthers' offense surge overcame their defensive stances and powered through to the 101-55 victory improving to 2-0 on the season.

Courtney Saunds led the Lady Nights in the losing effort. The Darien, Ga. native scored 21 points while collecting six boards. Junior forward
Bria Joyner-Williams contributed eight points, six rebounds, and two assists while center
Laura Cherranfant nabbed seven rebounds and collected six points.

"I thought their fast-break points and offensive rebounds absolutely crushed us," remarked head coach
Coretta Brown. "[We] can't give up 25 offensive rebounds and shoot 28 percent from the field and expect to be successful on the road. Defensively, we will continue to get better, but we have got to find a balance offensively. We only had one player in double digits compared to their five. Improvement starts tonight."

The Lady Night Hawks return to the court on Monday, Dec. 1 when they travel to Mount Vernon, Ga. to take on Brewton-Parker College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
