Box Score TU Women's Basketball (6-9, 2-1) came up short on Saturday afternoon against Northwood University (7-8, 3-1) in a back and forth Sun Conference battle, falling 68-79.
Junior forward
Ivory Smith put down the first two points of the game a minute into the game. After a three pointer by junior guard
Jessica Anderson the Lady Night Hawks had a 7-6 lead for the next
2:27 seconds when Northwood tied it with a free throw with
14:00minutes left on the clock. It was a back and forth first half with Northwood going into the locker room with a one point advantage 28-27.
Coming out of the locker room Northwood scored the first basket before junior guard
Angel Roberts answered with a layup to bring TU back within one. Northwood went on an 8-0 run over the next three minutes until junior guard
Miracle Watts hit a three to make the score 38-32. TU would bring the game back within two throughout the first 10 minutes of the second half but could never get over that hump. Northwood began to pull away having as much as a 13 point lead. With less than a minute Roberts brought the game to 6 making a 15 foot jump shot. In the last minute of the game Northwood was 6-9 from the foul line not allowing Thomas to get back into the game.
Four TU players finished with double digits. Watts scored 18 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Anderson added 15 points, Roberts and junior forward
Taylor Britt both added 11 points. Britt also pulled down 9 boards.
Women's basketball will be back in action
Thursday January 16, facing Ave Maria University at the TU Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for
5:30 pm.
