Taylor Britt, carried TU Women's Basketball (5-6, 1-0) to the programs first ever Sun Conference victory, defeating Southeastern University (5-5, 0-1) 79-58 on Saturday evening at the TU Gymnasium.
The first half featured 10 ties and 7 lead changes with the Lady Night Hawks heading into the locker room with a 4 point lead.
In the second half Southeastern tied the game at 43 with
14:00 minutes left in the game. TU turned up the defense and put on a press to go on an 18-4 run over the next 6 minutes. The Lady Night Hawks never looked back extending their lead and holding a twenty point margin the rest of the way.
Watts had a game and season high of 28 points with 15 of those coming from behind the arc. Britt finished the game just shy of a double double scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds.
Shaunice Bennett a freshman guard added 11 points and junior forward
Ivory Smith added 7 points and led the team in rebounds with 10.
The Lady Night Hawks will be back in action a week from today when they host Florida Memorial University in Sun Conference action. Tip-off time is set for
2:00 PM.
