Box Score TU Women's Basketball (6-7) came up short this evening in a non-conference battle against the visiting Coastal Georgia Mariners (12-0), falling 72-66 at the Thomas University Gymnasium.
The Mariners pulled away in the first half with hot shooting from the field, taking a 52-34 advantage into the locker room. In the second half, TU battled and battled to make it an 11 point game at the five minute mark. In the final minute of play, the Lady Night Hawks made it a six point game but would be unable to reduce that margin.
Four Lady Night Hawks finished in double figures. Junior forward
Taylor Britt finished just shy of a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman guard
Shaunice Bennett added 10 points and 7 rebounds while a pair of juniors, guard
Jessica Anderson and forward
Ivory Smith, each added 11 points.
Women's Basketball will break for the Christmas Holidays and returns to Sun Conference action on January 4th when they welcome St. Thomas University for a 2PM tip-off at the TU Gymnasium.
