Thomas Women's basketball (4-5) outlasted the visiting Voorhees College Lady Tigers (5-3), 79-73, on Tuesday evening at the TU Gymnasium.
TU opened up a 30-12 lead in the first half, helped by the hot shooting of junior guard
Angel Roberts (8 points) and junior forward
Taylor Britt (14 points). Voorhees stormed back with a 19-4 run to close the first half, cutting the Lady Night Hawks lead down to 3 with TU taking the 34-31 margin into the locker room.

Miracle Watts responded with a three of her own to give Thomas the lead right back. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the early going of the second half with VC taking a 48-47 lead at the fourteen minute mark. TU retook the lead 51-50 with 12:45 and the teams once again exchanged leads over the next five minutes before Voorhees opened a 63-57 lead with 6:05 on a transition lay-up off a TU turnover. Watts made it a three point game with a three at the 5:45 mark and hit her second in a row thirty five seconds later to tie the game at 63. With 4:50 to play a put back by Roberts gave TU their first lead since the 12:45 mark. A steal and lay-up by Watts made it an eight point game with 2:45 to play. The Lady Night Hawks sealed the six point victory by making their free throws down the stretch, only missing one attempt in the final minute. Watts finished the game with a team high 28, while Brit dropped 23.
The Lady Night Hawks will next travel to Brunswick, Ga. to face College of Coastal Georgia on Saturday November 30
th at 2PM, in their final non-conference match prior to opening up Sun Conference play on December 7
th at the TU Gymnasium.
