Andrew Moore enters his 13th season as a coach and his first at Thomas University, serving as the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach.
Prior to joining the Thomas University staff, Moore served as the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator at the University of Rio Grande. Along with his coordinator duties, he also served as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. In his lone season with the Redstorm his unit finished top 3 in conference (AAC) when defending the pass. The first-year program also finished 2nd in the conference in total takeaways, while contributing to a defense that led the conference in fumbles forced. Coach Moore also helped develop the team’s lone All-Conference performer.
Before taking over the secondary at the University of Rio Grande, Coach Moore led the defense at Kentucky Christian University. He was responsible for the Defensive Backs, while also serving as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football and Track athletes. Upon taking control of the defense, his unit set a new school record in sacks and finished 9th in the NAIA in the same category. Improving from 93rd the previous season. The defense also saw similarly large jumps in Defensive Scoring (5th from 94th), Fumbles recovered (1st from 88th) and improved the total rush defense from 83rd to a top 25 unit.
Along with the unit improvements, he also developed the AAC Defensive Freshman of the Year, along with three other All-Conference performers. In his final season, four of his defensive players were able to use their individual development and success, paired with the unit’s improvements, to accept NCAA Division 2 opportunities.
Coach Moore began his career in 2011 at Paul G. Blazer High School. Completing his Strength and Conditioning certification while doubling as a Running Backs and Linebackers Coach. Coach Moore helped develop the number #1 passing defense in the state in 2014. He spent one season at Boyd County High School, where he served as the Outside Linebackers and Running Backs Coach.
He then moved to Fairview High School as the Offensive Coordinator. Producing a top 10 passing offense in 1A. From there, he moved to Raceland-Worthington High School, serving as the Wide Receivers Coach and a Strength and Conditioning Coach. In his lone season on staff, the Rams went 13-2. Finishing as the state runner-up in Class A. Producing the top three scoring WR’s in the class.
