THOMASVILLE, GA | The Thomas Night Hawks rebounded from this past Thursday's narrow defeat, to top the Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers, 72-54, in "The Nest" on Saturday.
The Toppers jumped on Thomas early, opening the game with an 8-0 run, over the first four minutes, forcing the Night Hawks to take an early timeout. The Night Hawks would bounce back, over the next two minutes, to pull within one point, on a
Joshua Robertson drive to the hoop. The two teams remained close throughout the remainder of the 1st half. Thomas was never able to tie the score or take take the lead until
Keon Williams was fouled in the post with 00:55 remaining. The basket and subsequent free throw, allowed Thomas to tie the score at 25-25. After a defensive stand by the Night Hawks,
Jarvis Brown drained a 3-pointer, on the subsequent fast break, to give Thomas their first lead of the day, just nine seconds before halftime. The Night Hawks would take the 28-25 advantage into the locker room.
Thomas came out the the locker room on fire, starting the 2nd half with a 6-0 run over the first 90 seconds, with
Andre Lightbourne and
Noah Lattin accounting for the points . Two minutes later, the Night Hawks would go an 16-2 run, and extend their lead to 50-31, with under 12 minutes remaining in the game.
Jailin Lee and
Keon Williams, by themselves, would outscore the Toppers 10-2, to give Thomas its largest lead of the day, 25 points. Lee and Williams would each knock down a 3-pointer and a bucket during the run. The Thomas lead would remain over 20 points for most of the remainder of the 2nd half, until the final two minutes of the game. Thomas would ultimately win the game by 18 points, 72-54.
The Night Hawks scored 44 points, off the bench, led by
Jarvis Brown with 16 points, to lead all scorers. Thomas outscored Blue Mountain 24-16 in the paint.
Keon Williams poured in 14 points and
Jailin Lee contributed 11 points. Brown led Thomas in rebounding, with seven, followed closely by
Tyson Anderson, with six. Devin Bainey added five boards.
Joshua Robertson and
Jailin Lee led the team with three assists each. Brown led the team with three steals.
