Night Hawks Come Up Short Against Life

Marietta, GA | The Thomas University Men's basketball team (4-8, 3-3 SSAC) fell to the Running Eagles of Life University (12-3, 6-1 SSAC) in a hard fought SSAC conference game on Saturday afternoon.

The first half of play would showcase a balanced effort from each of the two teams. The Night Hawks would gain the lead five separate times, but would only lead by as much as two points. Thomas would take their first lead of the contest following a Jailin Lee three-pointer. However, each time Thomas gained the lead, the Running Eagles would respond shortly after to regain the lead. Toward the end of the half, Life would go on a 10-2 run to build an eight point lead. Entering the break, the Night Hawks would trail the Running Eagles, 31-39. 

As a team in the first half, the Night Hawks shot 31% from the field and 30% from behind the arc. 

Upon their return from the break, the Night Hawks would connect on three consecutive thee-pointers, two produced by Jarvis Brown and one from the hands of Andre Lightbourne. However, the Running Eagles would respond by capitalizing on scoring opportunities following each Thomas three-pointer. The Running Eagles would lead by as much as fourteen points in the second half. The Night Hawks would cut this deficit to one point following a Jarvis Brown steal, fast break layup, and three-pointer with four minutes remaining in regulation. However, the Running Eagles would regain the lead shortly after and seal their victory from the charity stripe. The Night Hawks would fall 94-83.

Five Night Hawks would see double-digit scoring. Jarvis Brown would lead the way for Thomas by producing 21 points. Andre Lightbourne would shoot 57% from behind the arc to add 15 points. Noah Lattin would provide Thomas with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Joshua Robertson would dish out 6 assists, grab 4 rebounds, and produce 11 points. Keon Williams would lead all Night Hawks in rebounds with 8, while also tallying 2 assists and 11 points. As a team, the Night Hawks shot 39% from the field and 36% from behind the arc.

NEXT UP: The Night Hawks will return to action on January, 4th to take on Stillman College in a SSAC match-up. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM in the TU Gymnasium.
