Lake Wales, FL | The Night Hawks fell to former conference foe, the Warner Royals, on the road, 72-63, on Tuesday.
Thomas was able to keep the score close early in the ball game, But a 20-8 run by the Royals, midway through the 1st half, opened the Warner lead to 15 points at the second media timeout. Thomas would chip away at the deficit, cutting it to eight points, before a late basket gave Warner a ten point lead at the half.
The 2nd half did not start off well for Thomas. Despite scoring the first bucket of the half, Warner would subsequently go on a 12-2 run to extend open the Night Hawk deficit to 18 points. The deficit would remain in double digits until less than three minutes to go in the game. Thomas would cut the deficit to eight points, with less than three minutes to go. A missed layup by the Night Hawks would give Warner the opportunity to close out the game.
Thomas shot 32.4% from the field, and only 22.6% from behind the arc. Thomas forced 13 Royal turnovers for 18 points. Thomas won the rebound battle 42-35.
Jarvis Brown led the Night Hawks in scoring with 21 points.
Noah Lattin had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Jailin Lee was the only other Night Hawk in double digits with 11 points and six rebounds.
Deonta Jones led the team in assists with four.
Tyson Anderson and
Joshua Robertson chipped in three assists apiece.
Devin Baney had seven rebounds on the night.
The Night Hawks will be back in action on Saturday to begin a three game home stand. Thomas will face Loyola (LA) in Southern States Athletic Conference action, with the tip scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. For up-to-date information on this game and other TU Athletics, visit
