Damaging 3-Ptr. Eliminates Night Hawks

Two Night Hawks Boast 50% from the Field

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Time ran out (literally) on the Thomas University Men's basketball team's hopes of returning to the SUN Conference tournament Saturday evening, as a last-second shot from Webber International downed the Night Hawks for the third time in four games, giving the Warriors a 71-68 win over the Green & White in SUN Conference action.

TU (10-15, 4-11 SUN) dropped its seventh contest in the last eight games.  For the first time all season, the Night Hawks shot identical field percentages (.431) as its opponents.

Junior Guard Justin Figueroa bounced back from a tough night against Warner, playing a full 40 minutes to lead all scorers with 20 points, shooting 50% from the floor while posting three assists.

The first half saw both teams in a deadlock the whole way, with neither team leading by more than six points.  The Green & White shot well from the court, hitting nearly 54% to take a 36-34 lead at the half.

Webber International (8-18, 3-11 SUN) appeared to pull away in the second half, building a lead as large as 14 (59-45) at the midway point.  Thomas nearly spent the rest of the game coming back to tie the contest 68-68 with 19 seconds left before the Warriors delivered the final blow to eliminate Thomas from SUN Conference tourney contention.
