TU in Search of a Needed TSC Win Against Struggling SEU

Angelo Pontello | Sports Information Director | @apontello44

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's basketball team heads back out on the road Tuesday, this time to Lakeland, Fla. to take on a struggling Southeastern team at the Furnace in The Sun Conference play.

The Night Hawks (3-11, 3-5 TSC) may not have come away from Lake Wales with a win last time out, but the team shot 44.8% from the field against TSC's (then) best Field Goal Defense percentage in Warner.  Senior Guard Tre Alexandrea comes off a career-high 21 points while tallying three steals, one block, one assist, and one board.

While Junior Guard Trint Bryant has remained dormant for most of the season, the Thomasville, Ga. native's overall numbers have said the opposite; Bryant has shot over 53% from the field, including 41.5% long range, averaging 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds.

Southeastern (10-7, 4-6 TSC) began the season strong, winning seven of its first eight games, however, the Fire has hit a midseason snag, losing four of its last six games.  Opponents have also subdued the Red, Black, & White's 3-Pt. Offense.  In the first eight games, SEU averaged 40% from beyond the arc, however, the last six games have produced a 3-Pt. percentage average of 33.3%.

In the absence of Sophomore Riley Minix, Fire Freshman Reggie Mesidor has stepped up on offense, averaging 15 points a game.  Mesidor is tenth in NAIA in Total 3-Ptrs. Made (46).

Despite the team's slump, SEU still averages 9.35 Made 3-Ptrs., which will prove to challenge a Night Hawk 3-Pt. Defense allowing just under 36% of shots since the new year.

Tuesday's contest will be the second meeting between the two teams this season.  Southeastern defeated Thomas 89-69 earlier this season at TU Gymnasium.

Tipoff at the Furnace is scheduled for 7: 30 p.m.  Fans can follow the game by accessing the links below:
