TU Awaits Duel with RV Warner

Angelo Pontello | Sports Information Director | @apontello44

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's basketball team faces an uphill climb in the team's The Sun Conference slate, as the team begins its next three games on the road with a trip to Lake Wales Saturday to face TSC leader Warner University, who is currently undefeated at home.

The Night Hawks (3-10, 3-4 TSC) will have to put Thursday's upset behind them in order to get its conference record back to .500.  Points will be at a premium for TU, as the Royals (8-2, 6-2 TSC) allow only 69 points a game while allowing under 40% of shots from the field and 30.7% from long range.  As a team that averages the second-fewest shot attempts per game in TSC (58.4), the Hunter Green & White must make the most out of every possession, having little room for error heading into Saturday's contest.

At the charity stripe, Warner's opponents have converted the second-highest percentage in TSC (72.7), but the Night Hawks will need to have a better conversion rate at the free-throw line in order to make an impact; as of recent, Thomas has struggled from the charity stripe, shooting under 50% in two of its last three contests.

The Night Hawks, who average nine steals a game, will have a big challenge in gaining extra possessions; Warner averages TSC's fewest turnovers per game (12.6).

While Junior Guards Jordan Booker and Trint Bryant lead TU in points per game (14.6 and 13, respectively), Senior Forward Desean Enzor is off to a strong start in 2021, averaging 11 points in his first two games of the season.

Thomas ranks second in the conference in 3-Pt. Percentage (36%), with Junior Guard Toriano Lewis leading the way, averaging over 46% on the season.

As for the Royals, Rod Boggan leads the team in Scoring, averaging 18.6 points a game (ranking second in TSC).  The Kathleen High product is lethal at the line, leading the conference with an 86.9% free-throw percentage.

Alleged TSC Player of the Week Jacquez Dickerson is a force to be reckoned with in the paint, converting 69.8% of shots.

Tipoff at the Turner Athletic Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.  Fans can follow the live action by clicking on the links below:
