THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's basketball team hit the road Thursday as the Hunter Green & White travel to Babson Park, Fla. to face Webber International University in The Sun Conference action.
TU (0-4, 0-1 TSC) started the 2020-21 season against four teams that currently rank in the Top 53 in Scoring Offense, with RV Southeastern University as the latest opponent. The Night Hawks enter Thursday night's game averaging ten more points a game (77.5) than Webber (67.4). Junior Guards
Jordan Booker,
Trint Bryant, and
Tim Williamson lead the scoring load for TU, respectively averaging 17.3, 15.5, and 14.5 Points a Game.
For Webber International (2-3), the team opens its TSC slate at home, resting up for 11 days after picking up a pair of wins over NCCAA schools. The Warriors will be led by Sophomore Forward Kris Goettert. The TSC Player of the Week has shot 50% from the field in all but one game for the Warriors this season, while averaging 8.8 Boards a Game and recording five total blocks, a 49th best mark in NAIA.
One storyline to watch for this TU-WIU match will feature Thomas' Field Goal Percentage Defense (.516) against Webber's Field-Goal Percentage Offense (.403); both categories rank last in TSC, despite TU facing high-powered offenses thus far.
Another storyline for this TSC matchup is the turnovers. The Night Hawks are tied for first in TSC in Turnover Margin (4.25), but lead the conference in Opponent Turnovers (18.50). Part of the Night Hawks' success in Opponent Turnovers can be credited to the stealing talents of
Jordan Booker, who ranks fourth in the nation in Total Steals (15). That will prove to be a challenge for WIU to overcome, as the team averages 18 turnovers a game.
Tipoff at the Sabbagh Athletic Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The links to follow the games are listed below:
