Night Hawks Fall Short in 88-70 Defeat

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's Basketball team could not overcome a first-half deficit as the team fell short to the Running Eagles of Life University, 88-70.
 
TU (0-1) came out of the gate firing, taking a 7-1 lead in the first 2:51 of the game.  Life responded with a 9-0 over a similar amount of time to take a 10-7 lead.  After Thomas tied the game at 10 with 14:12 in the first half, the Running Eagles went on another scoring run, putting up eight, unanswered points.  The Night Hawks would close the gap to within one, 19-18, at the 11:34 mark, before LU went on a third scoring run, 11-0, over the next 3:14.  The Running Eagles would continue to push their lead further before heading into intermission with 51-32 lead.
 
The second half would provide a different story for the Hunter Green & White, as the team narrowly outscored Life 38-37.  Both teams would exchange baskets throughout the entire twenty minutes.
 
Junior Guard Tim Williamson provided a silver lining Friday night, tallying 22 points, shooting 8-for-12 (67%) from the field and 2-for-4 (50%) long range.  Junior Guard Jordan Booker picked up 15 points and five assists.  Junior Forward Shamar Brown scored 14 points while picking up six boards.  Junior Guard Keon Williams also grabbed six boards on the night while scoring eight points.
 
The Night Hawks overall shot just over 47% from the field, 35% from outside the arch., and just over 78% from the free-throw line.
 
Thomas quickly returns to action Saturday, taking on the Lions of Bryan College.  Tipoff at the Eagles Nest is slated for 12 p.m.
