TU Completes 71-67 Comeback Win over Keiser

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's basketball team knocked off Keiser University (Fla.), 71-67, on Saturday at the TU Gymnasium. TU completed the season sweep of Keiser on the year.

The Night Hawks improved to 12-5, 7-4 in The Sun Conference, while the Seahawks went to 17-7, 4-6 in TSC. TU travels to Southeastern 8 p.m. Thursday in Lakeland, Fla.

Javoris Cooks led the Night Hawks with 27 points including 14-of-16 shooting from the free throw line. Katrell Myers added 11 points and tied the team-best with eight rebounds, while Willie Holloway produced 10 points and eight rebounds.

Keiser went on a 7-0 run in the first half and jumped out to a 16-10 lead. Cooks converted an and one and brought TU within a point at 18-17. The Night Hawks went on a 7-2 run to close the first half and leveled the score at 27-27 at the halftime break.

The Seahawks went on a 10-0 run in the second half and took a 55-45 lead. The Night Hawks responded with an 11-0 run and took a 56-55 lead. Cooks knocked down a three-pointer and gave TU a 59-57 lead, giving the Night Hawks the lead for the last four minutes.

TU went on a 6-0 run and extended the lead to 65-58. Stanley Whittaker converted a layup with four seconds remaining that cut the Night Hawks lead to 69-67. Cooks ended the game with two free throws.

TU held a 32-18 points in the paint advantage in the game.
