Night Hawks Fall to Florida Memorial

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University men's basketball team lost to Florida Memorial, 83-70, on Saturday night at the FMU Wellness Center. TU had four players score in double figures in the game.

The Night Hawks fell to 5-4, 1-3 in The Sun Conference, while the Lions improved to 5-2, 4-0 in TSC. TU plays an exhibition against NCAA Division I Nicholls State 4 p.m. on Dec. 11 in Thibodaux, La.

Javoris Cooks led the Night Hawks with 18 points, while Katrell Myers added 15 points. Jamison Williams pulled down a team best eight rebounds.

Tre' Ford gave the Night Hawks a 7-6 lead early in the game with two made free throws. FMU went on a 7-2 run and opened a 23-16 lead. Ivan Tomic brought TU within a possession at 27-24 with two made free throws. The Lions went on a 9-0 run before the Night Hawks ended the first half with a 7-0 run. FMU held a 45-37 lead at the halftime break.

TU opened the second half on an 8-2 run and cut the FMU lead to 47-45. The Lions responded with a 14-2 run and extended the lead to 64-50 with 11 minutes left in the game. The Night Hawks then went on a 10-2 run and slimmed the FMU lead to 66-60. Myers sank a three-pointer before the Lions closed the game with four free throws.
