Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Night Hawks Clawed by Eagles, Fall 90-54

Jason Hendrix | Sports Information Director | @JasonHendrixSID

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – From the tip, the Thomas University men's basketball team struggled to put points on the board this evening going 1-for-10 from the field in the first six minutes of play.  The shooting woes continued for the Night Hawks as Faulkner University captured its fifth win of the 2015-16 season, defeating TU 90-54.

Thomas (5-6, 0-1 TSC) trailed the Eagles by a first half height of 20 points, 32-12, with 5:29 remaining until the break.  The Night Hawks temporarily cut Faulkner's lead to 35-22 with just under three minutes remaining, but once again, the Eagles forged ahead to take a 39-22 lead into the intermission.

The three ball was Faulkner's weapon of choice as they continued to connect throughout the second half.  The Eagles, who went 13-for-27 from behind the arch, would use their sharp shooting and shut down defense to limit the Night Hawks to just 32 points and 29-percent shooting from the field in the second frame.

Down the stretch, the Eagles would pull ahead to a game high 42 point, 89-47 lead before Thomas closed the gap to 90-54 at the buzzer.

Junior Adonai Rogers led Thomas with 16 points while Javoris Cooks (11) and Mike Lyons (10) were the only other Night Hawks in double figures. Thomas won the rebound battle bringing down 44 to Faulkner's 39 rebounds.

The Night Hawks will now travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to participate in the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout starting Saturday, Dec. 19.  Thomas will face former Sun Conference foe Embry-Riddle in the tournament opener.  Tipoff from the ICI Center is slated for 7:00 p.m.
