THOMASVILLE, Ga. – In Thomas University's first of two games in their sponsored TU Classic, the Night Hawks fell to Voorhees College (S.C.) 71-69.

Poor shooting doomed the Night Hawks in the opening half.  Thomas shot 27-percent from the field, 16.7-percent from behind the arch, and 60-percent at the charity stripe.  Their counterpart finished the opening half shooting 38.5-percent from the field.

While the scoreboard set tied at 25-25 at the half between the Tigers and Night Hawks, it was Thomas who closed strong heading into the intermission.  With just under five minutes to go in the contest, the Night Hawks were facing a nine point, 25-16 deficit.  Brent Crews' squad pressed hard and overcame their early shooting woes to power off on a 9-0 run, evening the score at 25-25 at the break.

Voorhees (6-2) opened the second half on a 6-0 run to grab the 31-25 advantage.  Thomas would cut the lead to 35-34 on a three by Javoris Cooks with 15:32 remaining in regulation, but the Tigers would roar off again to pull away to a 12 point, 52-40 lead when Marcus Walker capped off a run with an open three from the corner with 8:43 remaining.

Thomas pushed back over the next 90 seconds to once again pull within one, 53-52, with 6:55 left in the game.

The Tigers went on one last run to gain a nine point, 63-54 advantage over Thomas.  In what seemed like a musical track on repeat, the Night Hawks again cut into Voorhees' lead bring Thomas to within three, 69-66, with three ticks left on the clock.

Thomas would foul Voorhees' Desmond Louis before the inbounds.  Desmond netted both of his free throws, pushing the gap to 71-66.  Cooks drove down and drilled a three at the buzzer to pull the gap to 71-69, however, time was not on the Night Hawks' side as they fell 71-69.

The Night Hawks (3-3) return to action on Saturday, Nov. 21 as they host Edward Waters College in the finale of the TU Classic.  Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
