JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Thomas University men's basketball team fell to Edward Waters College 78-60 this evening at the Adam Jenkins Sports & Municipal Complex in their fifth game of the 2015-16 campaign.
The Night Hawks, who battled back to defeat Brewton-Parker College this past Wednesday 68-66 in overtime, fell short of their fourth victory as the hosts netted 48 second half points to pull away for the win.
The Tigers took an early lead in the contest and maintained it throughout the first half as they held the 32-26 advantage heading into the break.
Thomas had multiple opportunities to get back into the contest but fell short as EWC pulled away, outscoring the Night Hawks 46-34 in the second half, to pick up their third win of the season.
The Hunter Green and White were led by guards
Adonai Rogers and
Mike Lyons. Rogers collected 16 points, seven boards, and two assists while Lyons netted 14 points, collected four steals, and brought down five rebounds. Ten of Lyons' points came from the charity stripe.
Brent Crews' squad shot 35.5-percent from the floor, 20-percent behind the arch, and 50-percent from the free-throw line in the loss.
The Night Hawks (3-2) return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 18 as they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to face NCAA Division I opponent Florida A&M in exhibition action. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
