WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Thomas University women's swimming team opened their 2015-2016 season on the road today falling in dual action against NCAA Division II opponent Rollins College 108-61.
The Lady Tars captured eight of the 10 events with Thomas taking the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:48.97), consisting of
Zephinah Barney,
Jordan Barrett,
Jamie Haught, and
Monica Yoo, and the 100 yard backstroke won by
Megan Harding (1:07.88).
Thomas turned in several second place finishes. Yoo finished the 200 yard free in second (2:05.47) while
Madison Osterlund also finished the 100 yard individual medley as the runner-up (1:04.61). Barney finished second twice completing the 50 yard free in 26.42 and 100 yard free in 57.78. In her collegiate debut, Haught placed second in the 500 yard free completing the distance race in 5:25.86.
The Lady Night Hawks return to the pool on Friday, Oct. 30 when they host the 1st Annual Swim-a-thon. The meet will take place at the YMCA Remington Park Swimming pool starting at 9:00 a.m.
