The NAIA #12 St. Thomas University Bobcats (16-5, 9-2) handed Thomas Basketball (12-9, 5-6) their second straight Sun Conference loss on Saturday evening in Miami Gardens, Fla.
TU opened the game sharp and executing their offense, opening up a 23-6 advantage after junior guard
Keldrick Davis knocked down a jumper with 10:54 to play in the half. St. Thomas turned up the offense over the last ten minutes outscoring TU 24-12 to make it a 35-30 game at the half. Senior forward
Justyn Watkins led the first half offense for the Night Hawks with 13 points.
STU tied the game at 39 with just under seventeen to play in the game. The teams exchanged buckets and found themselves knotted, once again, at 41. It would be the last tie of the game as St. Thomas took the lead and slowly started to steal the momentum. A three pointer by freshman guard
Dionte Agard, with 11:08 to play, made it a five point game but it would be the closest that TU would get. St. Thomas led by as many as 14 in the half, to seal the 75-66 victory. The Bobcats limited Watkins to only 2 points in the second half.
Thomas returns home to host NAIA #3 Embry Riddle University on Tuesday February 4
th at 7PM in the TU Gymnasium.
