Box Score Thomas University's Men's Basketball (3-0) (TSC 0-0) continue a flawless open to their 2014-15 season as they collect their third victory of the year, defeating the Brewton-Parker Barons (2-1) 82-70.
The Night Hawks captured the lead over the Barons early in the night as they posted 35 points in the first half, only to add another 47 points in the second half. However, the Barons posed a threat to Thomas several times through the night and managed to keep the Night Hawks within 6 points during both halves of the game.
Sophomore
Adonai Rogers (TP 19, PF 3) drained 19 points and collected 4 steals for the Night Hawks in just 34 minutes of work. Senior
Alan Love (TP 17, PF 3) claimed another double digit night as he made 17 points rain down of the Barons' defense. Senior
Rodney Sturkie (TP 14, PF 3) posed a threat of his own to the Brewton-Parker defense with his 14 points and 3 assists in just 27 minutes of being on the court.
Thomas allowed for 20 points to be scored on turnovers, yet countered those point with 25 of their own on Baron turnovers. 44 points were scored for the Night Hawks from within the paint, while holding Brewton-Parker to just 26 points from down-low. The Barons were able to out rebound Thomas offensively as they collected 9 second chance points, holding Thomas University to 6 points on second chances.
"We played well tonight," said TU Head Men's Basketball Coach,
Stephen Cox. "We need to work on rebounding better, but other than that we are progressing well and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the season has in store for us. We need to build on these three early victories and continue to work hard."
The Night Hawks will be back in action at the Thomas University Gymnasium on Saturday November 8
th as they host Columbia International at 4:30 P.M.
