Sophomore Adonai Rogers
Box Score

Thomas University Men's Basketball (2-0) start out strong with back-to-back wins to open their season as they defeat the Pensacola Christian College Eagles (0-1) 92-85 in double overtime.

Night Hawks showed their athleticism in defending the PCC Eagles and claiming the lead throughout the first half. TU's fast break offense was unstoppable for the Eagles with several dunks and the majority of hoops derived from the transition. TU instinctively cut off the passes amongst the Eagles and collected several steals.

The second half came down to the paint as it was a 2-point game for the majority of the half with the defenses battling it out on the court. The Night Hawks had to re-strategize as two Night Hawks fouled out and cut their roster from nine to seven. The game entered the first overtime with the score deadlocked at 71 and after five minutes buzzed off the clock, the game was forced into double overtime with a score of 79. Ultimately, the Night Hawks showed their discipline and athleticism as they swooshed to their second win of the season and defeated the Eagles 92-85.

Senior Alan Love hooped home the Night Hawks offensively with a double-double with an incredible 27 points and 14 rebounds followed by Senior Marcus Humose with 18 points. Sophomore Adonai Rogers (14 TP), Senior Max Grace (12 TP), and Senior Rodney Sturkie (10 TP) shot a combined 36 points. Love (8 Stl) and Sturkie (4 Stl) were a defensive threat throughout the match, applying defensive pressure and collected 12 combined steals.

"Happy for these guys," said TU Head Men's Basketball Coach, Stephen Cox. "They showed patience on the defensive end. When you play a well coached team like them you really have to be patient defensively. Can't get anxious. Can't lose poise. Can't get discouraged when they don't take bad shots. Winning on the road with 5 guys in double figures in a tough college basketball environment is great for our program!"

The Night Hawks will be take the court again as they take on Brewton Parker at the Thomas University Gymnasium Tuesday, November 4th at 7:30 PM following the TU Women's Basketball game.
