Named after Thomasville's former mayor, Heeth Varnedoe, Jr., Varnedoe Stadium is the home field for Thomas University's varsity and junior varsity baseball programs. Nestled within the local community, Varnedoe Stadium sits as the neighbor to the Thomas Community Resource Center and a joint park area owned by the City of Thomasville. The field is located next to Armory Field, the home of Thomas University's softball team.
Located 1.1 miles from TU's Magnolia Campus and 2.1 miles from the Forbes Campus, Varnedoe Stadium has two pitching bullpens and 3 batting cages for training. From pole to pole, the outfield fence measures, from left to right, 325'-360'-410'-360'-325' from home plate. The field has a 32 foot backstop behind the plate.
Through the years, the history of Varnedoe Stadium has been one of the richest in the Thomasville area. From the Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles in the late 1950s and early 1960s, to Thomasville High baseball and various events of the 1970s and 1980s, to Night Hawks baseball in the '90s to the present.
