THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Work continues to move forward on the renovation of Armory Field, Thomas' home softball venue.
Three Dura-Lite Welded Portable Bleachers with a total seating capacity of 352 have been installed behind home plate and nearest each dugout. Each bleacher includes 10 rows. The grouping behind home plate is 27 feet long and seats 144 people. The other bleachers are each 21 feet long and seat 104. All are aluminum construction. Each bleacher has an aluminum angle understructure with an eight-inch rise and a 24-inch run, double 2x10 footboards, risers, 2x10 clear anodized seat planks, vertical aisle and chainlink guardrail system. A total of 180 free of chainlink guardrail was installed by White's Fence Company, based in Thomasville.
White's Fence Company also installed 60 feet of chainlink guardrail from dugout to dugout measuring three feet high that separates the pathway in front of the bleachers from the overhead netting.
A new eight foot wide by 12 foot long all steel frame pressbox has been installed on top of the bleacher behind home plate. The pressbox includes plywood sheathing and decking, VCT flooring, vinyl wrapped five-eighths inch sheetrock, acoustical tile ceiling with flourscent lights, a full length laminent counter top that seats six people, two operable horizontal sliding windows, an ethernet port, five power outlets, a rubber membrane roof, three interior walls, PTAC heat pump units for heating and cooling, a camera deck with roof hatch, ladder, walking pads & guardrailing. The exterior of the building is painted in Thomas' trademark Pantone 349 green.
The bleachers and pressbox were delivered from Outdoor Aluminum in Geneva, Ala. Over 50 people, including Thomas coaches, athletics staff and student-athletes helped construct the two 21-foot long bleachers over the course of two days.
Approximately 80 feet of green backstop from Burbank Sports Nets, which also services the Atlanta Braves and other Major League and prominent NCAA Division I baseball teams, has been installed and features a housetop TU logo at each end. The backstop is treated twice with a special UV all-weather BSF paint treatment for exceptional durability and protection from the sun and weather.

More than 52 cubic yards of concrete has been poured that connects the bleachers and dugouts.
Thirty-two bricks in each of four spaces, two in each walkway between the 27-foot long bleacher and each 21-foot long bleacher, have been laid for a future brick paver program.

Six dugout benches have been partially painted green.
The erection of two foul poles and completion of the painting of the benches are expected to be done before the end of the calendar year.
The renovation to Armory Field began May 15. Work is expected to be completed on Armory Field's enhancements prior to first pitch of the alumni game on Jan. 20, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Thomas used Remington Park for fall practices, which concluded in early November.
