Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. - Thomas University men's soccer team avenged an overtime, regular season loss to Sun Conference foe Florida Memorial University in impressive fashion Friday night, blanking the Lions 2-0 in the Conference Championship Semi-Finals match.
The first half was an offensive struggle for both teams with each squad notching just one shot on goal. The Night Hawks had four corner kick opportunities compared to only 1 for FMU, but could not take advantage. Both squads headed to the locker room scoreless at halftime.
After intermission, the Night Hawks came out firing early scoring the first goal on a layoff from
Eric Persson that was driven into the net from inside the box by sophomore midfielder
Antoine Akoure in the 57th minute for his fourth of the season. The accurate touch by Persson was his third assist of the season.
The Green and White landed an insurance goal in the 82nd minute when
Joey Lopez connected on a free kick from 22 yards out to beat the FMU keeper in the top-right corner.

Alex Condell notched his sixth shutout of the year collecting three saves in the game.
The Night Hawks (14-2-3) return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15 in the Sun Conference Championship final where they face the top-seeded Bees of Savannah College of Art & Design. SCAD enters the contest with an 11-2-4 record defeating St. Thomas University in the first round and Embry-Riddle in an overtime thriller in the semi-finals on their journey to the finals. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m.
