Malcolm Hosford enters his sixth season as Thomas University's head men's and women's swim coach in 2018-19. Originally, Hosford was named the interim coach in November 2013 and moved into the full-time role at the end of the season.
Prior to his tenure at Thomas, Hosford served as the Aquatic Director at the Capital City Country Club from 2008-2014. Hosford, who owns and operates the Hosford Swim School in Tallahassee, Fla., also served in several coaching capacities throughout the Leon County, Fla., area. He spent 2008 as the Head Swim Coach at Lincoln High School, 2009 as the Head Swim Coach at Leon High School, and 2013 as the Assistant Swim Coach at Chiles High School. In 2013, Chiles’ women’s team won the FHSSA State title.
During his collegiate swimming career, Hosford spent two years as a varsity letter winner for Auburn University. During his two seasons as a Tiger, Hosford was named to the NCAA All-American team, All-SEC team, and was a two-time SEC Team champion (200 free and 800 free relay). Hosford is a two-time Olympic Qualifier (2000 and 2012) and is a two-time national record holder. In 2000, Hosford was a member of Auburn’s NCAA Division I National Championship runner-up team.
In 1999, Hosford was voted Swimmer of the Year by USS Swimming, the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association, and SPEEDO.
